please join us!

To attend:

1) Fill out
sign-up form.

2) Mail or hand form with payment to Amy Macintyre
    or Lora Mullen.  If mailing, ensure we receive your
    your sign-up sheet and payment by the Deadline
    indicated on the SCCCHE Field Trip Quick
    Reference Information.


3) After we have your payment and form, we will send,
    within 2-3 days, a quick "Got it" note or call for
    confirmation.  If you don't receive your confirmation
    please contact us at sccchetrips@sbcglobal.net
    Also, we will send all the information you will need
    for the trip a few days prior.
    
4) Prior to the field trip, review the Field Trip
    Etiquette, as well as the Modesty Guidelines.

Consider any payment to be non-refundable.  There
may be cases when a credit can be given for a
future field trip.  However, that depends on the
specific field trip.  To be safe, always assume that
no credit will be given.

 

 
 

SCCCHE 2010-2011 Field Trips

Tuesday, October 12- 1:00pm, Boeing Prologue Room Berkeley, MO
Free    
7th grade and up   Sign-up deadline: Oct. 5
 
     7th grade and above will view a multi-media presentation - "The
     Adventures in Space" and a guided tour of the Prologue Room.
     Students will learn history of humankind's endeavor to explore
     space, what astronauts are doing in space today, and what the
     future holds. We will also learn how astronauts went to the moon,
     as well as learn how rockets work, among other things.  Boeing is
     also providing us with a special guest speaker - a member of the
     Boeing Robotics Club. Maximum: 30 students

Saturday, October 16- National Weather Service Open House- St. Charles, MO


     Our group has been invited to attend the open house.  This is a great
     opportunity because the National Weather Service tours are only
     open to groups of 20 or less and don't allow children under the
     5th grade.  However, everyone is welcome to the Open House.
     More information to come.  This is not an official field trip and does
     not require sign-up.  More information to come.


Thursday, October 19- 1:30pm,  Braeutigams Orchard- Belleville, IL $5.50 a child   Entire Family Welcome   Sign-up deadline: Oct. 1

     Our trip will include a wagon ride to the orchard to pick a pumpkin.
     Each child will have the opportunity to feed the animals (currently
     cows, pigs, goats, chickens and rabbits).  Each child will also be
     given a cup of fresh apple cider.  Playtime in "Grandpa Lester's
     Farm" is also included.  The farm village play area will probably
     appeal most to the younger crowd (toddlers - early elementary),
     but the trip as a whole will be fun for the entire family.  Moms will
     have an opportunity to purchase additional produce at the regular
     'by the pound' price.  If you have younger children, who will tag
     along, but will not be picking a pumpkin, they may attend for free.

Tuesday, November 23 - 12:30pm,  U.S. Ice Sports Complex Ice Skating-
Fairview Heights, IL
$4.00/skater  Toddler (skate sz 6) and up  Sign-up deadline: Nov. 5

    
US Ice will provide us skate rental, a short ice skating lesson,
     and supervision by the safety patrol.  Don't forget to bring
     your safety gear.  No limit.

Wednesday, February 16 or February 23- 10:30 am, News Democrat – Belleville, IL
Free    K and up     Sign-up deadline:  Feb. 9

    
Grade K and Up Only Please

     This 1 1/2 hour tour will include the main building (newsroom
     and advertising department) and the printing plant.  A limited
     number of high school students may be able to shadow a reporter.
     Maximum: 25 people per trip

 

Tuesday, March 15 - 1:00, Boeing Prologue Room - Berkeley, MO
Free   4th grade and up   Sign-up deadline:  Mar. 11

    
Kids 4th grade and above will view a multi-media presentation -
     "The History of Flight" and receive a guided tour of the Prologue
     Room.  Learn about how planes fly and why planes are shaped
     differently.  We will trace the history of flight from how early planes
     worked, to the differences between flying in the air and in
     outer space.  Maximum: 30 students

Tuesday, April 12 - 10:00, Metamo4ic Math Center - Ferguson, MO
$3.00/child  Pre-K - 8th grade
   Sign-up deadline: Mar. 25

     Experience over 120 exhibits in 4 rooms, covering 3,000
     square feet of space.  Exhibits include games, hands-on activities
     and projects that explore how math works.  There is no charge
     for parents or children 3 years or younger.  The center is on the
     3rd floor, so strollers may not be very convenient.  If an elevator
     is a necessity, please let us know upon registration so that
     special arrangements can be made.  The math center is
     conveniently located to January Wabash Park, which is a good
     location for a picnic, if the weather is agreeable.
     Maximum: 80 children

May - Weather Bash - St. Louis, MO


     A weather lesson and Cardinals baseball game.  A date has not
     yet been released.

June/July - Muny - St. Louis, MO

     This is a tour and performance event.  Schedule will be dependent
     upon which shows will be performed.  Watch for more information
     as 2011 progresses.

 



If you haven’t paid by the deadline, you forfeit your spot and someone from the waiting list can be moved up into your place. 

Remember that SCCCHE gets the discounts and is committed to these field trips based on those who signed up for the trips.  If we cannot honor our commitment at these establishments, then we not only lose the discounted price, but we also lose our credibility and set a bad example as Christians.
