Shooting Stars 4-H Club

“…that you might shine like the stars of the universe…” Phil. 2:15

4-H is a club program which strives to develop youth through hands-on learning and positive interaction with mentors. The monthly meetings are led by club officers. Service activities and field trips are scheduled by leaders. Members and their mentors work on individual projects.

Projects areas incorporate many important life skills: cooking & sewing, animal husbandry, and agriculture are traditional 4-H projects for rural areas. However, you may also consider computer, art, theater, health, bicycle, horticulture, forestry, woodworking, robotics, and many others.

4-H members must be age 8 by September 1, 2010, and no older than 19 by September 1, 2010. Younger members (ages 5-7 by September 1, 2010) are welcome to join as Cloverbuds, but the club meetings and activities are geared toward older members. A Cloverbud group will be formed if parents volunteer as leaders.

We usually meet on the third Friday of each month, from 2:45-4:15 pm, following Lyceum. Membership is $20.00 for the year, payable to U of I Extension. A few outside activities will be scheduled. Each member must sign up for at least one project. Completed projects are shown at fair during the summer; however, it is not mandatory for each member to complete and to show their project.

Club leaders are Mrs. Rebecca Phillips (206-8652 or jrphil5@charter.net ) and Mrs. Anita Coughenour (624-5791). Please contact us for more information.

Enrollment begins at club on Friday, September 24. Officer elections will be held in October.
